El Nido Tourist Information guide
The El Nido area in Palawan,
Phillipines,
is home to a quite a few beautiful beach resorts. Before we cover some of the
better known resorts there, here is a brief introduction and information about
El Nido.
El Nido is a municipality situated at the northwest of Palawan, a
province of the Philippines in South East Asia. It is slightly more than 400
km (250 miles) to the southwest of Manila,
Phillipine's capital and 240 km (150 miles) northwest of Puerto Princesa City,
the capital of Palawan Province.
El Nido is well known not only for its beautiful beaches and natural
landscape, it is also famous for the harvesting of edible bird's nest of
swiftlets. The swiftlet's nest when made into soup is an Asian delicacy and is
thought to be health enhancing.
El Nido is also a showcase of Palawan's natural geology and diverse
wildlife and has been declared as a protected area which is not surprising
because the area is a wonder of nature with awe inspiring landscape, crystal
clear waters and its relative isolation attracts and captures the imagination
tourists and vistitors.
Kayaking in crystal clear lagoons, mangrove swamp tours, snorkeling,
scuba diving, hill trekking, fishing, bird watching etc are favorite
activities of tourists in El Nido. At present, there are two beach resorts
named after El Nido and they are El Nido Resorts Lagen Island and El Nido
Resorts Miniloc Island. We will take a tour of these two resorts as well as a
few others herebelow.
